Altered Magazine Art Journal Page with Kaleidoscope Stencils

Welcome everyone!

I was so excited to play with the new Kaleidoscope Series by Cecilia Swatton, Artistcellar's newest Signature Series Artist.  I love stencils that will work as a background for any theme page... and they are gorgeous to boot!

I received the stencils around the same time I was gifted some "Deli Paper".  I had heard it's all the rage in mono printing, so I thought I would test it out.  Here are the results:

I really enjoy have a set of four coordinating stencils while layering with the Gelli Plate!!

See all the designs in detail HERE: http://www.artistcellar.com/stampstencil/acSignatureSeries.html

I then ripped and collaged pieces of the printed deli paper and glued them into my altered magazine art journal that I will been preparing to take with me on a trip to Newfoundland.

I chose black paint and removed it with a baby wipe.

I love how you can see both the deli papers and the original magazine through the Kaleidoscope Series stencils.

You can watch the whole process, from the monoprinting to the completed background above right here:

  7. I like to use my stencils with structure and texture pastes. And also with my gelli plate.

  8. My favorite technique is white gesso on black gesso that was sprayed with spray dyes. I Love the way the white gesso ghosts the spray colours and the way the black makes it pop. Thanks for all that you do Paula!

  9. My favorite technique is where you remove the paint with baby wipe thru the stencil.... thanks for this chance to win these awesome stencils

  10. I use a stencil over wet paint and wipe it back with a baby wipe. Also use stencils in the final layers with an ink pad or paint over the stencil in random areas on the page.

  17. You are an amazing inspiration and give all of us so much with your videos and time. I love what you did with the black paint and made the design look like stained glass. These stencils were perfect for that!

  18. I think I have two favorites, the first is one I learned from you. The reverse stenciling when you rub the paint off with a baby wipe and the other is still spray ink (without the overspray!) Just love you Paula!

  21. I don't have a single favorite way to use stencils, I love them all. It doesn't matter what I do with my stencils, each time I think that is my favorite, and it is until I go to the next technique. They all rock.

  22. Hey Paula, love your work. By far my favorite way of using stencils is using spackle compound that I've tinted with paint. And yes, please sign me up for the chance to win the set of stencils. Thanks, Gilly

  23. I like applying paint or glue through the stencil and then with glue adding some new finnabair art sugars or just using some different art pastes and mediums to use with a stencil. Thanks for the opportunity to win some awesome stencils :)

  24. I like to mix modeling paste with paint and just scrape it right over the top to make a nice textured background. Then use inks on top of it.

  25. The way you use layers just amazes me . . . I never know when to add or subtract but I know I'm going to need some baby wipes! I really like using the stencil and then stamping the excess off onto another page as a starting point. I recently made a small notebook just from pages with these stampings and loved it.

  31. I've been experimenting with two techniques lately (stencil techniques), one is layering smaller stencils to fill in the open spaces of a larger stencil, and, the other is using Glass Bead Glitter Gel through stencils; this is a resist technique. I, too, enjoy your video tutorials very much-great inspiration. Enter me to win!

  33. Love love love this. I use something called Menu Tussue by Papercon. It is more sheer than the waxed deli paper. Strong when dry too. I love it. I get it locally from Ace Resturant supply. They are in Atlanta, Dallas and LA. Love it. I am going to experiment like you do. I have the other kind from SAMs too. Thank you for the demo.

  34. Hmm fun! I have found that the costco deli paper unwrinkles once it is dry. am going to try Denise's paper as I like craft tissue the best versus the deli papers. It is more fragile than deli paper, but sinks into the gel medium more nicely. It isn't as fragile as plain old tissue...Would love to win a set...thanks.

However, with such little time on our hands the frequent and long running advertisements on the television can be quite irritating and time consuming. As a society most of us tend to do this for many factors. This includes vacation trips, furniture, and also items we want. However, you must separate a person’s wants from the needs. When you are working to improve your credit rating score actually you need some trade-offs. For example you possibly can shop online to economize or you can look at second hand retailers instead of expensive department stores to get clothing. 가입시 꽁머니 사이트
