A Few More 30 Minute Journal Pages

This has truly been my motto these past few weeks.  I am having a great time enjoying my supplies, not thinking too much about what I'm doing and just letting it all out on paper.

I had a great time with Portfolio Water Soluble Crayons on the above page, playing with supplies for no reason other than just seeing how they react with each other.

I had a great time on my live show last night over on Ustream.  Thank you so much to all the wonderful friends that were there with me.  Don't forget to "join my crowd" while you are there so you can see all my recordings and get notified when a new one goes up.  The two pages above were completed last night.

Here is the recording from last night, grab a coffee and enjoy!

I will be back tomorrow with some finished pages.

One Year After Trauma, A Reflection in Art Journal Pages

I remember creating the page above less than a month after my accident.  When I first broke my ankle and was confined to the couch I spent a few days feeling very sorry for myself.  I was angry that it had happened to me, frustrated that I was reliant on someone else for the very basic of needs and very saddened at the whole situation.  I could not see past the cast on my leg, or the pain it was causing.

By now you know that one of the many reasons I art journal is to release anxieties.  During that first month of "Art on the Couch" I created very messy pages, which was very healing for me.  Soon I got up enough courage to do my first live show on Ustream.

At first I believed my accident was "bad luck".  I now believe my injury was exactly what I needed.  I needed a bit of suffering to appreciate what I truly had, and I needed the time to straighten out my mind.

I truly believe that this injury was a blessing in disguise.  Without it I wouldn't have made so many wonderful friends, and for that I am ever grateful.

It is now time to break free.  May this second year bring even more friendships and opportunities.

I thank you for all the support and love.

Happiness Equals No Stress Art Journal Pages

Welcome everyone!  I just had to add this cute picture of Annie.  I was taking pictures of my journal and she wouldn't move.  She loves heat and sitting in the sun.

It feels so great to almost completely finish this little journal.  The only pages I have left is the huge 4 page flip out in the center.  I LOVE this paper, you can get a journal of your very own here.

I love how soft and light this page is.  Just a bit of spray ink, stamping and collage.

This fish is from a fauxphemera pack from K&Co.  At first I didn't "like" this page, I didn't think my lettering was big enough, but adding the fish just made me smile.  Fish have always been a calming source for me.

I had some fun using an entire sheet of rubons from the dollar bin for this page.  No journaling, but the images speak louder than words for me.

More fun with spray inks and rubons.  These happen to be 8 year old rubons from Making Memories, which is why they look imperfect.  I really love how it turned out.

I really love this quote, but am not happy with the overall page.  I post it with the thought of telling everyone that not all of your pages have to be "perfect", and I assure you that you will not "like" all of the pages you create.  When this happens I honour it, learn from what I didn't like, and move on.

I spent some time arting on the couch while watching the finale of Survivor (yay Rob!!).  I was working in my Moleskine and completed these pages:

I hope everyone is having a great week!  I am dealing with a migraine, but am resolved to find out what's causing them.  It has been raining since I got home from Colorado last Friday.

If you haven't subscribed to me over on Youtube, I would love it if you did!  I have 2 videos planned for this weekend that you won't want to miss!

Thirty Minute Art Journal Pages

What a great night I had last night!  Thank you so much to those who were there to share in the fun.  I decided it would be fun to challenge myself to complete three pages at 30 mins each.  There are so many of us that feel like there is not enough time in the day to do a little art.  I hope these pages and this class inspires you to create!  Only thirty minutes needed.

I still need to title this page.  I had written "The Key to Life" in the large circle, but it didn't stand out enough so I painted it pink and will go back and write it again.

I have a bit of doodling and journaling to do on these pages, but they are pretty much done.  It was so freeing just to create, and create quickly.  Creating without worry or thought is very freeing to me.

For those that missed it, here is the recording.  Enjoy!

Colorado Love

Welcome everyone!  I am back from a most WONDERFUL and amazing journey in Colorado.  The above picture was taken at a Barnes and Noble, after a brief stop at Archiver's.

The taping went wonderfully, I can't wait to share all the exciting details!  I just love Mr Depp and was thrilled to spend awhile teaching him.  :)

The first two days in Denver were very rainy and cold, the day I left was beautiful.  This was my view from my hotel room window.

I am going live tonight to work in my art journal, my goal is three, 30 minute pages.  Join us at 9:30pm EST over HERE.

I'll be back tomorrow with some new artwork!  Thanks so much to all of my friends who sent some wonderful thoughts and well wishes throughout my trip.

Taking a Trip, Going through Doors

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I am feverishly preparing for a trip to Colorado I am taking tomorrow.  It's a short trip leaving Wednesday morning and returning on Friday night.

I am preparing to walk through a huge door and I am nervous, excited, overwhelmed, and hopeful.  I still have quite a few things left on my to-do list today, but I am confident I will have it all done in time.  Who needs sleep right?

Since I like to procrastinate, I recorded a Youtube video yesterday:

I will report back in a few days with some wonderful pictures and reveal the "big secret".  Thank you so much for all the support and friendship, especially to those who have been keeping me company while I art live on Ustream the past few nights.  Want to join in?  Follow me on Twitter or Facebook!

Wish me luck (but please, no "break a leg" comments! hehe)!

Art Journal Page Dedicated to Mom

Happy Mother's Day to all of my wonderful blog readers and friends!

I dedicated my show last night to a page honouring my beautiful mother, as well as celebrating National Scrapbook Day.  Why not use a picture on your next art journal page?

And just for my mother who loves my cat Annie:  (Don't worry mom, Annie is still all black, just the sun hitting her fur makes it look white)

My journaling says it all.  I love you, Mom!

Thank you to all my wonderful friends who spent the evening with me.  For those of you that missed it, here's the recording:

Prompt Mini Book for Art Journaling... with Corrugate!

I had such a great time with my new Homemade Corrugate technique that I decided to make a mini book.  This is a 3" wide, 3x4" book.  All the divider pages are made with the corrugate, I just love the grungy feel!

For the cover I wanted to make it extra special.  I made a little flower with Tim Holtz Filmstrip Ribbon.  I attached them with a brad through some of the Tim Holtz gears.  I'm still working on this cover, but here it is so far:

I had fun combining techniques on the page below.  I embossed the top sheet with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade which I inked in black.  I just LOVE the clocks!  Also in this picture you can see a close up of the LindyStampGang Moon Shadow mist.  I applied the mist while the book was closed on all four sides to give it a vintage feel... I love how the mist floated onto some of the inside pages as well.

As I mentioned in my Youtube (while you're there, don't forget to subscribe!) video, if you like more of a clean look, you can always diecut into your top layer to reveal the corrugation underneath.  Here I used a Spellbinders die:

This little book is not yet complete.  I plan to add details to all the pages you see, which are dividers for prompt categories.  I have six dividers and am planning on categories such as colour, texture, supplies etc.  Thanks to my wonderful friend Dede for the prompt inspiration!

If you'd love to see how I created this, here is the live recording.  I had such a great time!

Happy Scrapbooking Day everyone!  I hope to see you live at my show tonight.  Check it out over HERE at 9pm EST.  Don't forget to hit "join crowd" to be reminded of all my shows and recordings.

See you tonight!
Much Love!  xo

Happiness Art Journal Pages

Thank you so, so much for all the lovely comments on my last post!  It is always so interesting to me to hear what others' favourites are.  The picture taken from the close up above was definitely a favourite by all.

All of the pages below are from my "Now Here" art journal.  This is the cover:

Now, Here

I originally called this an affirmation journal, but since I've worked in it more I've decided to only put quotes on happiness inside.

The backgrounds for most of the pages in this little art journal are made up from left over paints and sprays from other pages in my larger art journal.  It was so freeing to just slap paint down without worry.

I'm off to get ready to teach live over on Ustream.  I am live every Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9pm EST!  I hope to see you there!

Much Love and HAPPINESS!  xo

Art Journal Pages in Progress

I have been working daily in my art room.  I have multiple journals and projects in process, not much completed.  I thought I'd take the time to share a little close up art journal eye candy of a few art journal pages in progress.

Wowsers!  That's twelve pages!  Which are your favourites?

Much Love xo
