What do YOU see?

Welcome everyone!

I'm feeling better ever day, and was able to do a little shopping and do my live class on Ustream last night.

I was working in a new Moleskine for my friend Kerri.  I started with Portfolio water soluble oil pastels, many layers, a bit of spray ink.... and this happened!  What a lovely surprise!  My question to you is, what do YOU see?  So many possibilities, I would love to hear what image your imagination comes up with.

Just for fun, here is the same page upside down.  I see something totally different here!  Please leave a comment below, I love to read them and appreciate them so much!

Last night I also completed this page.  My photo just doesn't do it justice.  So many wonderful layers of goodness, I even broke out the alcohol inks for this one!

You can watch the entire show below, I went to the art store yesterday so the first 15 minutes is a little haul. :)  It was a great time, and I hope you can visit me live soon.  I am on live Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9pm EST.

Can't wait to read your thoughts!

Needing Some Art Time

Hi all!  I have been feeling under the weather yet again, this time the stomach flu.  I am almost back to normal, fever gone, just feeling a little weak.  I have missed an entire week of art and I am craving it terribly.    The above page was completed live from a hotel room in Philly (along with the Museum a la Hilton page below). You can watch the (hilarious!) recording HERE. If you're interested in seeing more of the wonderful goodies I bought while I was in the us, you can see it HERE

I used "hotel ephemera" for the hand in the above page, it's truly amazing what kind of collage goodies you can pick up there!

This is a sneak peek of the most recent journal I've worked on.  It's actually the cover.  I have 8 layers of paint so far, with a few more to go.  I look forward to getting back into my art room.  Being sick with the flu is not like being laid up on the couch, all I have done is slept for the last 36 hours.

I hope to be back tomorrow with the completed cover to show you.  Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Art is... and a One Sheet Mini Book

When I first saw this quote, it was on a rubber stamp.  I whipped out my journal and copied it right away.  I have since found out that it is a quote from Edgar Degas.  These words really speak to me.  They speak to the teacher that lives in my soul.  My shows and what I do is not about me creating art, it's about helping others create art.  I drew the flower in the corner, you can scroll down and see the WIP shot, and coloured in with my Prismacolors.

During last nights Ustream class we made two little one page mini books.  The pictures above are from the one book that I had time to work in.  Lots of yummy Adirondack spray inks.  I just LOVE the new colours!  As always, if you can't join the fun live, you can go back and watch the recording.

I am so glad to say my headaches have finally gone.  Thank you so much for all your sweet comments and support!

Of Art Journal Pages and Migraines

Hi everyone!  I have had a rough week so far.  My flight home caused my ear to pop, which caused a migraine on Monday.  I got over that, and then got another migraine last night.Because of this I had to cancel my show, I apologize to all who was there.  I did an impromptu stream Tuesday night and created these pages.  It is recorded HERE.  You can see all my recordings there, and don't forget to click the "Join Crowd" button on the top to see when I will be on again.

I am really loving the new papers from 7Gypsies.  This is the Lille collection.  The even have some very pretty matching masking tapes that you can see to thee left of the title.

I created this on Monday night.  The images on the right are from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Collection. On the left I drew some  straps to mimic the boot, and coloured with my Prismacolor pencils.  I need to practice this more, but I really enjoyed it.

Here is the first step to this page:

It's definitely more of a "dark" page for me, but it was something I needed to express at the time.

This is the page I created Live on Ustream this past Saturday night while I was in Philly.  I found the image in a hotel magazine and just loved the colours.  The original painting is called "The Skater" by Gilbert Stuart.  The white swirls on the page were created with my new white Neocolor I crayon.  It worked wonderfully.  I have quite a few Neocolor II's, which are water soluble, but this is my first Neo I which are not.

I will leave you with a little sneak of a page I'm finishing.  Many layers of acrylics used here with a bit of Light Molding paste for texture.  This background is also recorded on Ustream.

It's almost the weekend!  I am excited already.  Thank you so much for all the comments, love and support.  You guys are so wonderfully awesome!
