Art Journal Background Layer Oil Pastel Resist

Welcome back!

Yes, I am a few days late.  I have spent the past week in bed first with migraines, and then the worst kink in the neck ever!  I am feeling better finally.

Last Saturday I shared this technique:

You can order your copy of the new Pages magazine here.  You can also order a downloadable edition.

As for my absence, it's nothing new.  I struggled through the holiday season with terrible anxiety.  When I feel this way I tend to back away from everything and everyone.  I am trying to work on it, but it takes time as well as a lot of courage and hard (internal) work.  I apologize for letting you guys down!

Thank you so much to all of those that have left me messages and support, it has truly helped!!

Much Love xoxox

  1. Paula you are missed when not around, but you did not "let us down". You need to take care of yourself and if backing away for a time is part of it then it is. We will be here when you come back...sorry about the migraines, I suffer from them and know how debilitating they are.

    Grace and peace

  6. I can relate because I have a similar problem only mine is caused by clinical depression. I know how tough it is to pull yourself out of the abyss so I have alot of respect for your strength and tenacity!! Give yourself credit because you deserve it and don't forget to lean on your family and friends whenever you feel yourself sliding towards that abyss again. Love your Ustream videos BTW!!

  10. It's great to see you back with another clip! I have a panic anxiety disorder and i can relate with just how frustrating and debilitating it can be. I recently started an art journal and because of those like yourself, I am constantly inspired. Journaling is now my best form of therapy! Know that you inspire many! :-)

  12. Love-Love all your clips! Do NOT be hard on yourself about anxiety and illnesses. I am a life long anxiety sufferer! I have learned to pull back when I need to. So don't worry about that!!! My personal opinion is that people who are artsy and creative are also much more in tune with their emotions and therefore much more susecptable to anxiety. I LOVE your work! Take things a day at a time. Hang in there and ejoy the moment :)

  14. Nooooooh! Not migraines. They are THE worst. I know. I'm so sorry you have them. You probably get tired of hearing advice & I may have already mentioned this, but I find a really good multivitamin helps stave them off. Hope you're feeling better soon. Your work is amazing & you're the best teacher ever. ((hugs))
